To be done here

I want to write tonight but I feel like it's been an emotional day. I really do want to take a moment to just acknowledge how as absolutely horrific and saddening as the tragedy in Haiti has been, it is a blessing that an event such as that has certainly trivialized what might otherwise seem like stressful things in my own life. I have such a wealth of joy in my life and I appreciate all that I have been given.

I heard God in this City by Chris Tomlin today and initially thought of my Antigua surgery teams. There is a line that says "Greater things have yet to come and greater things are still to be done in this city". It just reminds me so much of all the incredible things that our volunteers have done thus far and will continue to do this season and for all that will come. But the song also really speaks to what's going on in Haiti too and also in my own life. I think right now I'm really just taking a step back from everything and taking time in my own head and own heart to have calm and quiet. To trust that greater things will come.

Verse 1.
You're the God of this city
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You Are

You're the light in this darkness
You're the hope to the hopeless
You're the peace to the restless
You are

Bridge:
For there is no one like our God
There is no one like You God

Chorus 1:
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Verse 2:
You're the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You're the King above all kings
You Are

You're the strength in our weakness
You're the love to the broken
You're the joy in the sadness
You Are

Bridge:

Chorus 2:
For greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
When glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for You and love for You
In this city

Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here
